I was never officially diagnosed, but several years ago I had a serious health condition.
I’d wake up every day totally exhausted no matter how much sleep I got.
My energy levels crashed every afternoon, and I had to rely on large amounts of chocolate to get me through the second half of my day.
And even though I was tired all day long, I experienced this strange “second wind” later in the evening, which would last until 1 o’clock in the morning. These unexplained surges of energy late at night made it very difficult for me to get to sleep at a healthy bedtime.
For over 10 years, I struggled with extremely low energy and poor sleep.
It wasn’t until I read a fantastic health book by Dr. James L. Wilson that I figured out what my symptoms meant…
I had adrenal fatigue.
Ever heard of it?
It’s estimated that about 80% of Americans have it.
So we have about 18,000 people on our email list. That means over 14,000 people reading this email are likely to have it—YIKES!
But here’s what’s scary. Like my experience, most people don’t know they have it.
It’s actually one of the most undiagnosed illnesses in the U.S.
Because adrenal fatigue is NOT accepted by mainstream medicine.
As Dr. Wilson, the author of the book Adrenal Fatigue puts it, “doctors are down on things that they’re not up on!”
So how you could have adrenal fatigue and not know it?
What are the telltale signs that you do have it?
What causes it in the first place?
These are some of the questions I had the opportunity to ask Dr. Wilson—the very man who coined the term “adrenal fatigue”—on the Better Beyond 50 Podcast.
And I have to tell you this one of my favorite interviews because the topic of adrenal fatigue is so personal to me.
I’ll be forever grateful to Dr. Wilson. Following his adrenal recovery plan helped me heal 100%.
Here’s what you’ll discover about adrenal fatigue in this episode:
* How adrenal changes during perimenopause and menopause impact your sex drive, emotional stability and ability to feel in control of your life.
* Why it can only take ONE bout with severe stress to fatigue the adrenals and disrupt your hormones.
* Why your ability to say “NO” impacts your adrenal health.
* Why relying on coffee, soda and chocolate to stay alert is NOT healthy for your adrenals. (In fact, eating these foods makes you feel more tired!)
* 6 simple ways to assess if you have adrenal fatigue right from home.
* A practical 3-step lifestyle plan to recover from adrenal fatigue.
